Connections is our mentoring partnership that connects TCC students with mentors who have expertise in key interest areas. The program seeks to provide students with supportive and guiding relationships that encourage them to think critically about what they hope to accomplish – at TCC and beyond. Through Connections, mentors will have an opportunity to develop industry leaders by helping students connect their classroom experience to real world application.
Various mentoring opportunities can fit busy schedules and lifestyles. Mentoring involvement ranges from traditional mentoring to instant career coaching. There are also opportunities to work with specific student focused programs.
Mentor a Veteran
The Center for Military and Veterans Education’s (CMVE) Mentor and Mentee program connects alumni veterans to student veterans. Alumni veterans assist and encourage student veterans as they transition from the military to the college campus and civilian workplace.
Mentor a Student
Nothing speaks to the benefits of a TCC education more than the success of our former students and graduates. Alumni Job Shadowing and Career Coaching provide students with opportunities to ask questions of industry experts or experience a typical day in the life of their future career.
Open Door Project
TCC alumni can mentor, encourage, and provide exposure to career fields to students who are of limited income, first generation college students and/or who have special needs through the Open Door Project. Alumni mentors enrich students’ classroom experiences and assist our students to graduate and/or transfer from TCC to a four-year college or university.
TCC Alumni educate and empower women through mentoring opportunities at the Women’s Center, which offers comprehensive specialized services to assist women so they can define, pursue, and achieve their academic, professional and personal goals. During instant career coaching sessions, mentors will have the opportunity to speak to female students in one-on-one discussions, as well as in a group setting, about potential career paths and preparation for the workplace.
